Belarus ranks 100th in FIFA rankings

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) — The Belarus national team ranks 100th in the updated FIFA (International Federation of Football Association) rankings released on 18 September, BelTA has learned.

After two defeats at the start of the World Cup qualifiers against Greece (1-5) and Scotland (0-2), Carlos Alos’ team has lost three positions and now has 1223.54 points. Belarus will play its next match in the World Cup Qualifying Group C in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary on 9 October against the Danish team, which is ranked 20th in the world rankings. On 12 October, they will play against Scotland (43rd in the FIFA rankings) in Glasgow. The Greek national team is in 40th position.

1. Spain — 1875.37 points

2. France — 1870.92

3. Argentina — 1870.32

4. England — 1820.44

5. Portugal — 1779.55

6. Brazil — 1761.60

7. Netherlands — 1754.17

8. Belgium — 1739.54

9. Croatia — 1714.20

10. Italy — 1710.06.

FIFA plans to publish the next rankings on 23 October.

The Belarus women’s national team is ranked 50th in the world. The rankings are topped by Spain, followed by the USA, Sweden, England, and Germany. The women’s national team rankings will be updated on 11 December.
